The Uncluded - Delicate Cycle

The Uncluded is an unlikely duo between Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock. I’d always liked Kimya’s quirky sound but didn’t realize it could get even stranger as the duo sings over each other with barely interweaved lyrics held together by minimal synths and beats. The Uncluded sounds like two slam poets that found a few instruments and made something beautiful by accident. The only difference is these talented folks knew exactly what they were doing.

What holds the album together is how well both artists will talk about the same topic using their own language and style. I chose this song because of Kimya’s section about bottoming out. I wish I could put into words how clever I found her thoughts on the matter to be. I wouldn’t classify the duo’s music as beautiful but I would say it’s real and that’s even better.
