Ra Ra Riot - For Once

With the departure of Alexandra Lawn, I came face to face with a less cello-y Ra Ra Riot.  I’ll be honest: that backing cello was something that I came to love of Ra Ra Riot and it was something that drew me to them in the first place.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by their new album.  Released on the 22nd of January, I found that it had a bit more of an electronic feel.  Songs like Beta Mind and What I Do For U really reflect that new direction whereas songs like Dance With Me and That Much sound like the Ra Ra Riot that I’m used to.

As a result, I found it a little difficult to pick just one song.  I picked For Once because it’s upbeat and it does remind me a lot of Ra Ra Riot past.  It’s nice that it has a healthy amount of strings too!

I look forward to seeing what they do with their sound in the upcoming years.  Until then, I hope you enjoy your Saturday and this pick of the week!
