Slipknot - Duality

There isn’t any music in my collection I’m embarrassed to like and I will openly admit to liking any of it. That is, everything except for my secret love for metal… that has always been the genre I’ve kept quiet about. I’ve always surrounded myself with folk lovers and song-writers so I suppose it always seemed inappropriate!

And I don’t just mean the semi-pop stuff like Placebo and Avenged Sevenfold, I mean the roaring, pounding, thrashing kind of metal. I chose Slipknot because of all the metal bands I thought I’d left in my angst-ridden teens, I realise I still love them just as much. Slipknot always seem to get a bad rep and I feel they are generally judged negatively before ever being listened to (the rotting masks and hellish stage antics might be to blame).
There’s a lot to be said for metal as it is one of the few genres that 99% of the time demonstrates incredible technical ability, but what has always got me is the power in Slipknot’s rhythm. My favourite (which I deemed too much for Soundboard) is actually Get This because every time I hear it my heart races and I break out in a small sweat!

I would LOVE to see them live one day but I don’t think I know anyone who would be willing to go with me, haha. There, now everybody can know that I have moshed out of the closet with pride!
