Oberhofer - oOoO

So I kind of have a soft spot for this… indie pop genre? The best (harshest?) way to describe it is that it sounds like it would be played in American Eagle. Frankly if someone told me Oberhofer actually has been on their store playlist, I wouldn’t be surprised. As much as that sounds like a condemnation of their music, it’s really not. There are plenty of good artists in that genre. Matt & Kim, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot… I’m probably revealing more about my shopping habits than my musical tastes right now.

Formed in Brooklyn back in ‘08, Oberhofer has been keeping their act at a warm simmer for a while. I mean, I’ve never heard of them which is sad. I think they’re just as good as a Matt & Kim (whom they’re currently touring with) and I’d love to see them gain more traction so here’s my small part in facilitating that. I may not be David Letterman, but we don’t have to be to help spread the word of our favorite artists. So… give these guys a listen and pay it forward. I’ll see you all next week.
