Marea — La Luna Me Sabe a Poco

I’ve been struggling with today’s song, I only knew it would be from one of three spanish bands that were part of the soundtrack of my past self, but couldn’t decide which one would be the choosen one. Until I’ve finally decided on Marea.

Marea is a rock band from the region of Navarra in the north of Spain, formed in 1997 after his vocalist decided to go from the punk side into the rock and roll scene they’re quite a legend here in the Iberian Peninsule.

I’ve always loved this band, because of its lyrics, one can simply enjoy Marea’s lyrics without music. They are small poems, full of metaphors and imagery. But of course, it all goes better with Kutxi Romero’s peculiar voice.

This song is one example out of many, La Luna Me Sabe a Poco is one little gem.

Pondremos el mantel tu quédate a mi lado,

A comernos el amanecer lo que quieran las manos,

Y de postre un sol maldito que termine de volverme loco,

Que ya sabes que la luna a mí siempre me sabe a poco.

And here goes my poor translation

We’ll set the tablecloth, stay close to me,

We’ll eat the dawn whatever our hands want,

And for dessert, a cursed Sun that makes me go mad,

You already know that the Moon’s not enough for me.

Click play and hope you enjoy! See you next week peeps!

Viu.
