Arkells - Ballad of Hugo Chavez

This past week has been a bit of a whirlwind for me.  I went through Orientation, the first few days of school, and Week of Welcome.  Usually Week of Welcome is accompanied by Beer Gardens and musical acts at the stage nearby.  This year, they stepped it up.  I saw Said the Whale on Wednesday and saw the Arkells on Friday.  I also got to bask in the sun and spend some quality time catching up with my friends.  I also saw Said the Whale again on Friday but I had just posted them weeks ago.

ANYWAYS, enough rambling.  Time to get down to business.  The Arkells played an AMAZING show on Friday.  They had high energy and funnily enough, had matching outfits of denim shirts and black skinny jeans.  I picked Ballad of Hugo Chavez because it’s well known and a good way to acquaint yourself with the Arkells.  The song also has a really summer-y feel to it and with fall just around the corner, it’s nice just to have another reminder of all the funtivities of the summer.  The band itself comes from Hamilton, Ontario and have been around since 2006.  I’ve seen them live before and I would be more than happy to see them again.
