The xx - Angels

So, The xx have a new song. Hold on, I’ll repeat that and throw some italics on that to help it sink in. The xx have a new song. It’s the first track off of their forthcoming album, Coexist, and it’s very solid. While definitely echoing the minimalist ethos that made their first album a smashing success, it’s more reserved this time around. I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the album sounds like, as I’ve been craving new material from these folks for years. They finally delivered with this intimate offering. My favorite part might be the snare drum that drifts in and out. Or maybe it’s the vocals. Or the melody. It’s difficult to decide, especially for a bare track like this one. Maybe my favorite part is the whole thing. Give it a listen, and weigh in for yourself!
