DIIV - How Long Have You Known

To be honest, I wasn’t quite in the loop on this album until it was released today. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to give it a shot while being mostly unaware of what this group was about. I only vaguely remember hearing this particular song back in April. To be blunt, I’m damn glad I had myself a listen. They have that dream-poppy, nebulous vibe that I’ve fallen in love with in the past couple of years, and they impressively manage to create it with the basic fixings of an indie rock band. Absent are the synths and manufactured noises that I’ve come to expect from this type of music. It’s refreshing, and definitely reminds me of artists like Real Estate. Oh, and of course I’ll shoehorn it into my summer music category! That one shouldn’t come as a surprise to our regular listeners.
